Production Philosophy

Key Principles of the Host Broadcast Production

Biathlon is one of the most thrilling sports, equally enjoyed by attending spectators as well as the international TV audience. It creates many intense and wonderful moments, unexpected twists of events and gives the audience nerve-wrecking excitement.

For the Eurovision Services HB team, the obvious role consists first and foremost in providing top-quality, unbiased international coverage while offering the TV audience the same excitement as the spectators onsite.

The International Feed must be clear and understandable to every TV viewer, even without the help of commentary. Storytelling is the second pillar of the production. Special attention will be given to the athletes who are considered favourites in their events, building up anticipation and tension towards the finals. Viewers will feel close to the athletes, understand the competition rules and identify with the trials faced by the athletes during the competition.

Our production plans are designed to capture the essence of each discipline. On top, a number of special cameras are integrated to capture action and emotion that cannot be seen from a spectators' point of view.

Special care will be taken to provide clear and understandable running orders allowing broadcasters to join and leave the live coverage according to their needs, while post-session ISO Melts will also show unseen angles and slow-motion coverage for post-production.

The distinct atmosphere and the colourful crowds in Antholz will always be an integrated part of the stories told from this fabulous arena.

The Eurovision Services HB team is committed to provide rightsholders and their audience the best possible coverage of the IBU World Championships Biathlon Antholz 2020 in an extremely enthusiastic and passionate way.

HB Feeds Description

Eurovision Services, as the Host Broadcaster of the IBU World Championships Biathlon Antholz 2020, will provide rightsholding broadcasters (RHB) with three live feeds. The HB OB van at the TV compound will produce these feeds, including graphics. The demarcation point for pickung up these signals will be the TOC.

World Feed Dirty

The World Feed Dirty will deliver the entire warming, zeroing and race coverage including all graphics footage, slow motion sequences, audience reaction, etc. Every evening, this feed will also deliver the daily medal plaza ceremony. The Medal Plaza Ceremonies will be produced remotely from the main Host Broadcast OB van located at the Biathlon stadium.

Shooting Range Feed

This feed will be a permanent unswitched feed of the shooting range activities, allowing RHBs to focus on their preferred athletes.

Enhanced Feed

This feed will be an extra switched feed between Start line, Intermediate timing points and the Finish line. It will give the opportunity to RHBs to enhance the performance coverage of their national team.
