Pope Francis wil visit Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan from 2-7 July 2022. These visits take place in a context of violent crisis and insecurity within the two countries.
It will be the first visit of a Pope in South Sudan, since the creation of the country in 2011. The Vatican has a role of mediator in the South Sudan crisis.
It will be the second travel in 2022 for the Pope, after the one in Malta in April.
