Eurovision Services will temporarily modify the parameters of HM1 this summer. Broadcasters need to change their NS2000 configuration

Introduction

Eurovision Services (ES) uses the Hypermux-1 (HM1) platform for the distribution of premium sports events in Asia on the satellite Asiasat-5, transponder C11V, located at 100.5° East.

During summer 2021, ES will temporarily modify the parameters and satellite transponder of HM1, which means that broadcasters in the Asiasat-5 footprint will need to change the configuration of their Novelsat demodulators (NS2000) in order to continue receiving Eurovision feeds. This document describes the HM1 changes and the timeline.

HM1 parameters from 14/7/2021 until 9/8/2021

From 14 July 2021 at 00.01 GMT until 9 August 2021 at 08.00 GMT, ES will temporarily migrate to transponder C14H and reduce the bandwidth of HM1 from 71.4 MHz to 36 MHz. The changes on the carrier will be as follows:

1) The central frequency will change from 4080 MHz vertical polarisation to 4160 MHz horizontal polarisation

2) The symbol rate will change from 70 MSps to 35.294118 MSps

3) NLC mode will be switched to OFF

Broadcasters will need to modify the following settings on the web page of the NS2000 (menu demodulator config > line):

Note 1: Please verify that NS4 NLC Mode is OFF.
Note 2: The parameters LNB LO Freq and LNB Control depend on the individual installation. The screenshot above is only an example and the parameters must be configured individually to ensure that the demodulator receives Asiasat-5 C Band horizontal polarisation.

HM1 Parameters from 9/8/2021

On 9 August 2021 at 08.00 GMT, ES will reestablish the bandwidth of HM1 from 36 MHz to 71.4 MHz and move the service from transponder C14H back to C11V. The changes on the carrier will be as follows:

1) The central frequency will change from 4160 MHz horizontal polarisation to 4080 MHz vertical polarisation

2) The symbol rate will change from 35.294118 MSps to 70 MSps

Broadcasters will need to modify the following settings on the web page of the NS2000 (menu demodulator config > line):

Note 1: Please verify that NS4 NLC Mode is ON.
Note 2: The parameters LNB LO Freq and LNB Control depend on the individual installation. The screenshot above is only an example.
