The White House announced Sunday that US President Donald Trump had ordered airstrikes against Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen on Saturday, killing many of the group's commanders. The White House also said that Iran had been "put on notice" to stop supporting the rebels.
Shortly after Hamas and Israel launched their war in Gaza in October 2023, the Houthi rebels began assaulting military and commercial vessels on the Suez Canal.
