Palm Sunday Mass and Angelus - Altar of the Chair, Vatican Basilica:  (Sunday 5 April 2020)

Ceremony time: from 11.00 am to 12.15 pm approximately.

Palm Sunday and Passion of the LordOn Palm Sunday and the Lord's Passion, Pope Francis celebrates Holy Mass at the altar of the Chair in the Vatican Basilica at 11.00 am. local (09.00 GMT). 

In the presbytery there are the Crucifix of San Marcello and the Salus Populi Romani.

The rite of commemoration of the entry of the Lord into Jerusalem takes place at the foot of the Altar of Confession, towards the Chair, where a decoration of palms and olive trees is set up.

At the Altar the Celebration takes place as usual.  There is no offertory procession.

Sunday 5 April, also marks the XXXV World Youth Day, this year at diocesan level, on the theme: "Young man, I say to you, get up!"  (see Lk 7:14).
