TAKING A CONTENT CENTRIC APPROACH

Eurovision Media Services (EMS), the business arm of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), announces the launch of a new service portfolio at Sportel Monaco.

Keeping pace with current media trends is a top priority for media organisations and sport federations.

"The complexity of live events has increased over the years. More content is being produced before, during and after the event than ever before. Combine this with advancements in media technology and the expectation from audiences to access content whenever they want from wherever they are on a multitude of devices and you start to understand the need for changing the way we work," says Michele Gosetti, Head of Global Sales at EMS.

EMS has a global reputation for being the go-to media services provider for media organisations and sport federations around the world. For more than 60 years, the EBU's business arm has been delivering top quality distribution and broadcast services for news, sport, culture and entertainment events.

The new service portfolio from EMS will build on this experience and include new services – such as those related to personalisation and regionalisation – that will help clients adapt and enhance their content to further reach online audiences.

"Our goal for the future is to continue helping our clients to maximise the value of their content by producing and delivering the right content to the right audiences at the right time. To achieve this goal, it's important that we take a content-centric approach," says Michele.

Content owners and event organisers have many stakeholders to take into account. Each of these stakeholders, whether it’s a rightsholder, sponsor, athlete or host city, needs to access and publish different types of content to engage with fans.

"We're excited to move forward with a new service portfolio. Storytelling is a key part of how audiences consume media today. Our new range of digital services allows our clients to decide on the type of content they want to give access to each stakeholder and take advantage of a set of tools that make publishing relevant content to different platforms easier," says Michele.

The new service portfolio follows a recent announcement from the EBU to transfer its business services to a new subsidiary, Eurovision Services SA, on 01 January 2019.
