Eurovision and VGTRK named host Broadcaster of Moscow 2013

EUROVISION WAS TODAY APPOINTED OFFICIAL HOST BROADCASTER FOR THE NEXT IAAF WORLD ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS

EUROVISION WAS TODAY APPOINTED OFFICIAL HOST BROADCASTER FOR THE NEXT IAAF WORLD ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS, WHICH TAKE PLACE IN MOSCOW FROM 10-18 AUGUST 2013.

Eurovision’s wholly owned subsidiary Eurovision Production Coordination (EPC), and Russian state broadcaster and EBU Member VGTRK will deliver all Host Broadcast services, including provision of the integrated broadcast feed, additional feeds and a daily highlights programme.

IAAF President Lamine Diack said: "We are delighted to welcome Eurovision Production Coordination (EPC), together with VGTRK, as Host-Broadcaster for the Moscow 2013 World Championships. We are determined to continue the tremendous success of athletics at the Olympics at the next edition of our flagship competition, and we believe that the provision of state of the art television images from Moscow is a crucial part in achieving success."

He added: "We believe that the experience and know-how of EPC at covering major events, together with the local expertise of VGTRK, will add great value to our Moscow production. In co-operation with our colleagues in Russia, we are looking forward to working with these partners to deliver an exciting, attractive experience for billions of viewers all over the world."

Eurovision Director Sports & Business Stefan Kuerten said: "This agreement with the IAAF strengthens Eurovision's position as the production partner of choice for the world's elite sports federations. Eurovision and the IAAF have become close partners again to distribute the media rights from 2014 onwards, and it is exciting to be able to develop this relationship further by taking on the production of the IAAF World Athletics Championships in Moscow."

The last European edition of the IAAF World Athletics Championships took place in Berlin in 2009.
