Eurovision Services selected to provide daily live satellite transmissions from Expo 2020 Dubai

DMI Dubai Media Incorporated, Host Broadcaster of Expo 2020 Dubai, has chosen Eurovision Services to provide daily live satellite transmissions from the event on the Eurovision Global Network.

Eurovision Services will kick off six months of free live satellite transmissions for broadcasters worldwide with the Expo 2020 Dubai Opening Ceremony on 30 September 2021. The live transmissions will then continue every day throughout the event from 1 October 2021 until 31 March 2022.

The global reach of the Eurovision Services distribution platform, which is used to provide broadcast services to the world’s biggest live events, will ensure that broadcasters in the 192 nations represented at Expo 2020 Dubai, can receive live signals whether they are in the Middle East, Africa, the Americas, Asia-Pacific or Europe. To access this content, broadcasters and media organisations simply need to register on this website (click at the top-right to create a new account if you do not already have one).

The live transmissions will be distributed using the Eurovision Services WorldFeed service, which offers access to the live satellite transmissions free of charge for editorial use. The files will also be available for download for 30 days after each transmission – also free of charge – on the Eurovision Services WorldLink video-on-demand platform. This gives broadcasters full flexibility in planning their coverage of the first World Expo in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region, with a programme of events covering 182 days from an Expo site that is twice the size of Monaco and where, for the first time ever, each participating nation has its own pavilion.

Jorge Simao, Eurovision Services Middle East Bureau Chief, said: “I’m delighted that DMI and the Expo 2020 Dubai organisers have placed their trust in us for this unprecedented use of our WorldFeed/WordLink service. Never before have we had six months of daily WorldFeed transmissions available free of charge on our network, alongside the many sports and news events that we also cover. This is a great example of the strength and flexibility of the Eurovision Global Network, which is backed by over 60 years of experience in providing broadcast services.”

Mr. Rashed Amiri, Deputy CEO of Channels Affairs, Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI), said “We are pleased to announce the alliance between DMI, Host Broadcaster of EXPO 2020 Dubai UAE, and Eurovision Services as the chosen World Feed distributor. We are delighted to work with our long-term partner Eurovision Services for delivering the Expo 2020 – The World’s Greatest Show – to global audiences.”
