President Trump visit to London

London, United Kingdom
12 - 13 July 2018

000_SM1STUS President Donald Trump will visit the UK on Friday 13 July.

Prime Minister Theresa May was the first foreign leader to visit Mr Trump at the White House after his inauguration in January 2017, and had promised Mr Trump a state visit to London. Plans for a working visit to the UK in 2018 were again announced when Mr Trump met with Prime Minister May at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

It is believed a meeting with the Queen is a possibility, as she has met with most US Presidents during her reign.  For Downing Street it is too early to release any details about the talks between Mr Trump and Mrs May although a trade deal and tariffs will likely be on the agenda.

The date of 13 July will follow the NATO summit in Brussels which the US President is expected to attend.

It remains to be seen if Mr Trump will want to extend his trip to visit his Scottish championship golf course in Turnberry.  This would create a logistical and security challenge.
