WEF World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2018

Davos, Switzerland
23-26 January 2018

The 48th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting will take place in the Swiss Alpine resort of Davos-Klosters from 23-26 January 2018. 70 heads of state or government will travel to Davos: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will make the opening address on Tuesday 23, while the keynote address will be given by US President Donald Trump on the closing day, Friday 26. French President Emmanuel Macron will give a speech on Wednesday 24.

More than 2'500 leaders from business, international organizations, civil society, academia, media and the arts from over 100 countries will also participate. Top celebrities including actress Cate Blanchett, singer Elton John and Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan will turn up at the Crystal awards ceremony on Monday evening before the formal conference begins.

This year's Annual Meeting theme, “Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World”, will make a case for renewed commitment to international collaboration as a way of solving critical global challenges. With over 400 sessions, the programme is aiming at engaging leaders in a new shared narrative to improve the state of the world and address today's political, economic and societal challenges.


 

Facilities:

Eurovision Special Events plans to establish broadcast, production and transmission facilities for Television & Radio broadcasters, as well as web-based facilities to assist broadcasters and provide corporate media solutions for governments, companies, NGOs and other interested parties, from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

  • HD Tape playout (P2 & own device SDI output)
  • ENG Crew
  • FLEX: IP Device that can be associated to our ENG crews
  • HD Technical Access to Pool Sessions & Pressers in Workspace (limited number) or common areas
  • HD Live Relay of Sessions (1-hour minimum booking)
  • File Transfers of Sessions & Pressers on external hard drives
  • HD Connectivity to the Eurovision Global network.

EUROVISION Special Events Content Delivery Platform:

A web platform will be online from the afternoon of Monday, 22 January, continuing througout the entire WEF2018 event https://news.ebu.io/

It is all part of a proof of concept brought to you by the EBU Technology & Innovation department in collaboration with Eurovision Special Events, Eurovision Technology & Solutions and member broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk.

To complement Special Event's usual broadcast services, production and transmission facilities happening on site in Davos; the web content discovery platform enables users (without leaving their desk) to access content produced by the WEF host broadcaster.

Target audiences for this digital distribution : broadcasters, media organisations, comms or PR entities that have VIPs on site or need to provide comprehensive coverage for their audience.

The content discovery platform enables users to find the Davos stories that are most relevant through:
