    COMPANY REGISTRATION

I registered my company but did not receive any confirmation.

Please note that the company registration process includes a credit check of the company and can take from one to three weeks to complete. If you need Eurovision services before your company registration is confirmed, we can provide services with advance payment. In this case, you will need to contact marketing@eurovision.net and arrange a pro-forma invoice at least 48 hours before your transmission.

    What is an Operation Code?

The operational code (ops code) is Eurovision's identification for your organization.

The ops code can be four letters or more with the first two letters indicating the country (GB Great Britain, ES Spain, FR France, IT Italy etc.). The rest of the letters identify the broadcaster (ie GB BBC, IT RAI). When the ops code you have chosen does not match with the domain of your email address, the registration is automatically rejected or blocked.

I tried to register on Eurovision.net but I could not find my company's Operation Code.
If your company does not exist in our database, you will not find the ops code on the list. Click here for company registration.

If you're sure that your company exists in our system, but you don't know the operational code, contact us.

I just tried to register on www.eurovision.net but I get an error message that says my email already exists.

Try retrieving your login and password by clicking here.

    Why was my registration rejected?
If you did not register with an official broadcast company email, your registration will be blocked or you will receive an automatic refusal. Eurovision does not accept registrations with ISP addresses like gmail, hotmail or yahoo - even when these addresses are used as official company emails.
I just registered on www.eurovision.net but I did not receive a confirmation email.
If you registered with your official broadcast company email address and still did not receive a confirmation email from Eurovision, please check with your IT or computer department first to be sure the confirmation did not get caught in your company's spam filter. If this is not the case, please contact us.

    Some other possibilities are:
    • you may have chosen the wrong ops code
    • you may have misspelled your email address.
In this case, please contact us so we can correct your registration and continue the process by sending the confirmation email to the right address

I just registered on www.eurovision.net but I didn't receive a login and password.

Eurovision.net does not assign users a login and password. Each user creates his or her own login and password during the registration process. If you filled in the registration form and gave us your name, email and company, we will send you an email which will take you to another form which asks a few more questions and helps you create your own login and password.

Please note that each registration represents an account with booking privileges. Therefore, accounts should not be shared and passwords should be secure and not easy to guess.

    EUROVISION SONG CONTEST

I would like to see the Eurovision Song Contest (Junior Eurovision Song Contest, Eurovision Dance Contest, Eurovision Young Musicians etc) on your web site.

The Eurovision Song Contest web site is www.eurovision.tv and not this web site, www.eurovision.net. The names are similar but the Song Contest web site’s name ends with tv.

The Eurovision Song Contest is not shown or streamed on www.eurovision.net. We do help broadcasters professionally cover the Eurovision Song Contest with tools on our web site. But if you are a member of the public interested in the Eurovision Song contest or any other Eurovision entertainment program, you really want to visit www.eurovision.tv

www.eurovision.net is designed to provide information and facilities to professionals in the broadcast industry. Only persons working for broadcasters can register for this site with their official company emails.

    BOOKINGS

How do I make a pencil booking online?
All bookings placed in our online booking systems are firm and are automatically charged to your company account. Cancellation charges apply as per our cancellation policy.
How do I access the online bookings?
Online bookings are available only to registered users after logging in.

Login and click on Transmission Services. From the four black icons indicating booking types, at the top next to BOOK NOW, choose your transmission type.

    One-Stop Shop

    Space Segment

    Special Event

    Unilateral

One-Stop Shop (Eurovision books facilities and circuits and issues one invoice for all)

Unilateral (point to point, usually not from an OSS partner)

Special Event (from a special event feedpoint, ie summit, leader visit, breaking news etc), see News & Events

Space Segment (satellite space only, no uplink, usually to be used with an SNG or satellite truck and not a fixed antenna)

Once you've determined which type of transmission to choose, click on the correct box.
What information do I have to provide in "Services" tab?
After choosing the date and timing of your transmission, continue with the SERVICES tab. Here you choose the origin and destination of your transmission.

The origin is where you want to transmit from (the origin of the signal), and the destination is where would you like to receive the transmission (the destination of the signal).

For Space Segment requests you will also be asked to give us information about your uplink antenna (SNG van, fly-away or other). We always ask for the uplink registration and the contact number for the operator so our master control (EVC) can contact the technician before, during and after the transmission.
What are ORIGIN SERVICE, ORIGIN CITY and ORIGIN FEEDPOINT?

The ORIGIN SERVICE is where your transmission is coming from (the name of the company and city where the signal or material is originates).

    For One-Stop Shop bookings, the ORIGIN SERVICE is required to be one of our OSS partners;

    For Unilateral bookings, the origin would be the company where you booked your playout or studio;

For Special Events the ORIGIN FEEDPOINT is the Eurovision news operation location. Special event origins will automatically appear (usually ZZEBU CITY) when the event is chosen using the online Special Events booking tool.

The Special Events booking tool can be reached from Transmission Services or from the News & Events list by clicking the BOOK button directly to the right of the Special Event for which you would like to book a transmission.

For Unilaterals, One-Stop Shop and Space Segment bookings you can filter ORIGIN SERVICES by country by clicking on the small arrow at the far right. If you select FRANCE, for example, the ORIGIN SERVICE list will then only show origins in France.

The ORIGIN CITY (for Unilateral and Space Segment only) is the name of the city where the signal first begins (ie where your correspondent or guest is physically for a live or where the tape is being fed).

    What is the DESTINATION SERVICE?
The DESTINATION SERVICE is the name of the company and the city where you wish to receive the transmission.

Because many transmissions are booked for the purpose of news gathering by the TV stations transmitting live and tape feeds from various remote locations to their main premises, the booking tool will set your company (OPS CODE and City) as the default destination. You can change this by clicking on the drop-down menu and overriding the default if you wish to receive the transmission elsewhere, for example at a bureau in another city.
What information do I have to provide in "PRODUCT" tab?
If you are booking a Special Events. or One-Stop Shop transmission, your next tab will be PRODUCT. Here you choose the format of your tape or the kind of live transmission you wish to book.

Please note that you will only see tape/live formats which are available from the location you have chosen. Therefore, it is very important that you carefully select your origin before going to the PRODUCT tab.

The ADDITIONAL ITEMS field is for details regarding editing and any other comments. If editing is requested, please specify the tape format, total editing time needed as well as whether the edit is required with or without an editor.

Any additional needs such as tape duplication or other should be added in this first field. The second field for additional items and can include which chromakey background or standup background is preferred for live standups or studios.
I do not see any playout or live formats in the "PRODUCT" tab?
If you do not see any live/playout options in the PRODUCT tab, you may have forgotten to choose the origin of your transmission in the SERVICES tab. Please go back and select the origin.
What information do I have to provide in "AUDIO AND VIDEO" tab?

Unless you have specific audio and video specifications, the settings which come up automatically are those that are most frequently used. You can also set your default settings in MY PREFERENCES found in MY Eurovision at MY PROFILE.

Bit Rates refer to the quality of your transmission. Currently, most transmissions are done in 11 Mbit/s SD, but a certain number of transmissions require higher bitrates, including HD. Please note that the Bit Rate chosen determines the transmission rate card.

What information do I have to provide in "SUBMISSION" tab?
SUBMISSION is the last tab in the booking process. It contains your contact details, space for notes, reference number, contract code and a function that allows you to send a copy of the booking to any email address of your choice.
How can I copy my MCR on the online booking sent to Eurovision?
The last field in SUBMISSION tab is for sending copies of the request to anyone who needs to receive it: producers, correspondents, colleagues etc. Multiple addresses can be entered as long as they are separated by commas.
How should I understand the price indicated by the Online Booking System?
When available, an estimated price is shown on the SUBMISSION page. Please note the prices indicated are for indicative purposes only; they exclude applicable taxes, out-of-office charges and additional timings.
How should I use "Notes" field in the submission tab?
Please use the NOTES section to include any other information which may not have been specified until this point. This field can be used to include the correspondent's name, mobile number (some locations require this information to allow access to their buildings), and any other information which is relevant to your request.
Why do I have to write my telephone number in the online booking form?
We need your telephone number to contact you in case there is any problem with your booking, if the timing you requested is not available or if some details are not clear for us.

The + before the country code means "Please add whatever digits necessary for international calls from your location" (in the US, dialers add 011, in many European countries, it is 00), then the country code (ie 33 for France, 39 for Italy or 1 for the US). Finally, please add the telephone number.
Why is "contract code" in the submission tab?
If your company has a special contract signed with Eurovision for this service, please enter it in CONTRACT CODE. Please make sure you enter the contract code exactly as you were given it by Eurovision, without any extra spaces between the letters, no extra characters before or after.
What is "REFERENCE NUMBER" in the submission tab?
The Reference Number refers to your company's order reference, PO or purchase order number. This is a number which your company generates to identify costs. If you enter one, this number will be included on your invoice.
How do I book multiple timings from the same origin?

If you want to make additional bookings from the same origin, for the same product (UNI, OSS, Special Events, Space Segment), please click on "Make additional bookings for the same origin" which is at the bottom of the SUBMISSION tab

Then, the "+" sign opens separate date and time fields where you can enter the additional booking.

Please note that your additional bookings will have the same parameters and products (live, tape format) as the main request. The rate indicated in the booking application refers only to your main booking request.

What is a synopsis and where do I find it?

A synopsis is the name for a Eurovision transmission technical confirmation. The word ‘synopsis’ itself is defined as a brief statement giving a general view of some subject. For Eurovision, a synopsis is the general view of a transmission. The synopsis includes the reference number, date, time, origin, destination, technical details (routing on satellite and/or fiber as well as tech parameters) and Eurovision contacts.

When a transmission is requested, it is entered in our system, planned and then a synopsis is issued to all parties concerned (origin, destination, turnaround points). Depending on various factors such as transmission complexity (involving various fibers and satellites), availability of resources, rights etc, a transmission can be planned quickly or take several days or even weeks... for example transmissions related to sports events where schedules are not yet finalized and resources are being allocated by Eurovision, the Programme Department and the host broadcaster.

After a transmission is completely planned and the synopsis is issued, then the synopsis becomes available. Either it is sent to the official technical entity (like a master control) of your company or the person who was designated as the receiver of these confirmations when your account was opened with Eurovision.

While the official confirmation is emailed, you can also see transmissions for your company on our web site, www.eurovision.net. Everyone in your company that registers with the same official company email has the same access to the transmission information. No more waiting for emails is necessary since the synopsis appears on the web site as soon as the Planner clicks send.

As a Eurovision.net registered user, you can see all your transmissions on MY Eurovision, MY TRANSMISSIONS after you log in.

    UNILATERAL, OSS AND SPACE SEGMENT

I want to book a live studio/tape playout in another city (Frankfurt, Madrid, Washington and more)? How can I do this?

By clicking on TRANSMISSION SERVICES and then One-Stop Shop (the menu item on the left of the screen) you can find our list of worldwide One-Stop Shop (also called OSS) partners. They are listed as a worldwide group here and also broken down on individual pages into regions -Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America, Latin America, Middle East, Russia and the CIS.

If you already know which city and partner you would like to book, click on the black icon One-Stop Shop to go to the booking page directly.

With any One-Stop Shop request(s), Eurovision is your single poin of contact for circuits and facilities.  Eurovision books your playout/studio, provides you location details and IFB/contact numbers, provides support and monitors your transmission.  Once it's over, Eurovision sends you one invoice for the whole service.  This way, you do not have to speak to the provider(s), negotiate rates or verfiy connectivity.  We have done that for you and one booking through us does it all.

    What is OSS?

One-Stop Shop. This is an exclusive Eurovision service which provides the user with a single point of contact, Eurovision, for facilities and circuits. One-Stop Shop service provides worldwide broadcast solutions which combine Eurovision's global transmission capabilities with production options (stand-up positions, studios and playout facilities). One booking is sent to Eurovision and we arrange the standup position, studio and/or playout with our One Stop Shop partner, then plan transmission circuits on our network. You later get one invoice for the full service.

    What is a Unilateral?

Unilateral services provides uplink and/or downlink facilities from/at Eurovision Members' premises (also called CNCTs), or Eurovision Gateways to the Eurovision global satellite network worldwide.  The unilateral service differs from OSS in that the onsite facilities (playout or standup etc) are not arranged by Eurovision.

    What is a space segment

A space segment is the satellite space only.  If a client has an antenna, that means a transportable antenna like an sng or a fixed antenna at a location (ie a production company), a space segment can be booked and the price charged is only for the satellite space.  Antenna and uplink are not included.

Space segment differs from a unilateral in that the antenna or uplink cost and booking by Eurovision is not included.

Space segment differs from an OSS booking in that the facilities (ie production standup or playout) and the antenna to access the satellite are directly arranged and paid for by the client and NOT arranged or paid for by Eurovision.

How do I get a rate card?

Any Eurovision.net user can register to receive OSS ratecard updates.

    1. Go to www.eurovision.net

    2. Log in (top right corner)

    3. Go to My Eurovision -> My Newsletters

    4. Tick "Transmissions (UNI) and production facilities (OSS)" as shown on the picture below.

    5. Click on Submit on the bottom of the page.

    NEWS AND EVENTS

    What is a special event?

A Eurovision Special Event is a news (and/or sports) operation where Eurovision producers and editors determine sufficient need exists from members and clients to create, manage and operate facilities at a remote location.

Eurovision producers provide and manage on site services from production to transmission. Facilities can include workspace, editing, standup positions and tape playouts. In some ways, it is the same as an OSS except not from a fixed OSS partner location.

Usually, special events are created and managed at planned events such as summits or film festivals and elections as well as breaking news locations. Some past events include the Hungary toxic spill, Haiti earthquake, Iceland volcano, European Council Summits, Cannes, Venice and Berlin Film Festivals, US and UK elections and more.

How can I know if Eurovision Special Events will have a special operation for the event I want to cover?

The page with the list of all special events is under the NEWS & EVENTS menu. The Special Events main page lists all special events which Eurovision is currently running or plans to run, along with the start and end dates of each.

How do I book a special event transmission?

You can do this various ways. Click on the NEWS & EVENTS main page and click the BOOK button to the right of event you want.

You can also click on TRANSMISSION SERVICES and click on the black box icon SPECIAL EVENT.

    Special Event

How can I find a special event rate card?

All the information for all Eurovision Special Events (including the rate card, operation location, IFB and coordination numbers) is on our website.

First, go to the page with a list of all special events under the NEWS & EVENTS menu here: http://www.eurovision.net/broadcast-services-production/ops/events.php.

Click on the name of the event (in blue) to see more details regarding each operation.

Once you have clicked on the event, the bottom of the event page will have a link to our ratecard.

How can I find the location of the Special Event feedpoint?

All the information for all Eurovision Special Events (including the rate card, operation location, IFB and coordination numbers) is on our website.

First, go to the page with a list of all special events under the NEWS & EVENTS menu here: http://www.eurovision.net/broadcast-services-production/ops/events.php

Click on the name of the event (in blue) to see more details regarding each operation.

Once you have clicked on the event name, the event page appears. The text box "Feed Points" will show either the exact address or instructions on how to find the Eurovision Special Event Feedpoint.

How can I find theIFB and Coordination number for Special Event?

All the information for all Eurovision Special Events (including the rate card, operation location, IFB and coordination numbers) is on our website.

First, go to the page with a list of all Eurovision Special Events under the NEWS & EVENTS menu here: http://www.eurovision.net/broadcast-services-production/ops/events.php

Click on the name of the event to see more details regarding each operation.

After clicking on the event name, you will see a text box Coordination and IFB with those numbers. The numbers are posted as soon as they are available - sometimes before the event or as soon as possible.

Clients are asked to check this page prior to their confirmed services since locations and numbers can change.

I see eight IFB numbers on the special events web page for my event. Which one do I call?

This happens when we have more than one standup position from a single location. It is very important that you dial the correct IFB number for your standup position; otherwise you may not be able to talk to your correspondent.

You can find the standup position number on the synopsis. In the first part of the synopsis, you should see your origin which should include a standup number. If it says STUP6 or STANDUP6, call IFB 6, and so on.

I have STANDUP 12 on my synopsis, but the event page lists only one IFB number for all standups! How is that possible?
Every event is setup a little differently. Depending on technical factors, we can sometimes configure the IFB numbers to operate like a switchboard. When each studio calls for IFB, a technician answers the call and manually connects the IFB to the correct standup position.

I am interested in a live shot from a location where Eurovision has no special event

In the case of breaking news, Eurovision may be planning a special event but has not yet confirmed facilities. A quick email expressing interest including your possible live times to newsoperations@eurovision.net could help our producers determine interest in the case of events where interest is not immediately clear.

If it turns out a special event will not be created by Eurovision Special Events, please check the list of our One-Stop Shop and Unilateral origins as we may have a partner close by.

What is a workspace and why do I need one?
A workspace is exactly that - a space to work. Broadcasters attending a two or three day summit, for example, will need a table and chair as well as computer connectivity and a pool feed. Eurovision often offers unequipped workspaces in planned events like summits and film festivals. We frequently assist in installing and technically connecting the workspaces at an event so that each space can receive the pool feed signal to monitor for information or to record. You pay one fee to Eurovision for some or all of the work involved in preparing the workspace.

Unequipped workspace refers to the skeleton space with tables, chairs and power/computer connections. Broadcast equipment such as cameras, editing equipment etc. is usually not included in a workspace unless in cases of special arrangement.

    What is the pool signal?
In broadcasting, pool, the pool feed or the pool signal is the video of the actual official event or events which is produced by one entity (usually called the host broadcaster) and shared by all broadcasters covering the event.

What is included in a workspace?
Every event is different. Usually table(s), chair(s), electricity, sometimes a telephone and computer connectivity is included. Depending on the event, some or all components of a workspace may be free or available for additional charges.

    What are the payment terms?

Payment is due as soon as the job is completed.

Can you include my PO or reference number on your invoice?

    Yes, we will.

When do I receive my invoice? Is it issued by AFP or Eurovision?

Eurovision will invoice you once you have confirmed receipt of your footage.

    What if the request changes?

This service is carefully tailored to respond to the unpredictable nature of the circumstances. As such, we strive to be as flexible as possible. We will send you a new quote upon reviewing your changes. Some may affect the projected cost, in which case we will inform you immediately of any potential additional expenses. As for our cancellation policy, please review the guidelines below.

I have sent my enquiry. How fast will you respond with a price?

We offer a 24/7 service: your request will be handled upon receipt through the platform. Our staff will contact you shortly thereafter to provide you with a quote.

Can you provide a local fixer to help our team on site?

Absolutely. Our priority is to make your experience on site as smooth as possible.

What about the rights on the footage?

In order to ensure that all rights are transferred to you, we make our VJ (and any other member of the crew involved) sign release forms.

Can you do the editing for me?

Yes, we can do the editing, write a script, record a voice-over, translate, add subtitles or any other requirements to meet your project’s needs. It could be either a pre-edit or a ready-to-publish piece.

Could we get the rushes back after the shoot?

Yes. You become the owner of the rushes. Depending on the weight of the footage, we could either transfer these to you via FTP, or send you a hard drive via DHL right after the shoot.

Will the VJ/camera/microphone be branded with EBU or AFP logo?

There is no brand on our equipment, but we can add your logo on the microphone if you wish. The end product will be such that it will appear as though your own crew shot the footage.

I would like you to shoot an interview for me. Can the VJ ask questions on my behalf? Can I send you the questions in advance?

Absolutely. Our video journalists usually speak both English and the local language.

I will have a journalist on site and therefore only need a cameraman, can you provide such a service?

Yes. Our cameraman will contact your journalist in order to work together.

    What are the delivery methods?

FTP or satellite via Eurovision network.

Is it necessary to book the transmission via the EUROVISION network?

Eurovision and AFP services have jointly developed a platform allowing you to easily book your shooting anywhere in the world. We can deliver the content through the internet (FTP, etc.) or via our Eurovision network.

What the video formats can you offer?

We can shoot either 1080i50 or 1080i60, progressive or interlaced, and we can compress any format (mp4, .mov, H264, etc.).

What cameras are you using for the shooting?

For news, we usually use XDCAM or P2 formats. However, if you prefer other formats (DSLR, etc.), we can provide those as well.

What if I need a team of 2 people for my project?

The standard service involves  a one-man crew: a Video Journalist (VJ). However, upon request, we can provide additional video journalists, cameramen, producers, fixers, sound engineers and editors.

How do I find out whether you have a Video Journalist available in a certain location?

You can start by checking our map. Should you not find what you are looking for, don’t hesitate to contact us because our crews are constantly moving and, if there is a special event, there is a possibility that we may have extra staff in a place where they are not usually based.

    MY EUROVISION

    What is "My Eurovision"?

    Your transmissions. Your way.

My Eurovision lets you see your transmissions broken down into the types that will make it easier for you to find the right information.

Unilaterals, Multilaterals, One-Stop Shop and Space segments are broken down in sections. Once a synopsis is issued, it appears on the web site so you do not need to wait for your email confirmation.

    WORLDFEED AND WORLDLINK

    What is a WorldFeed?

What is a synopsis and where do I find it?

A synopsis is the name for a Eurovision transmission technical confirmation. The word ‘synopsis’ itself is defined as a brief statement giving a general view of some subject. For Eurovision, a synopsis is the general and specific view of a transmission. The synopsis includes the reference number, date, time, origin, destination, technical details (routing on satellite and/or fiber as well as tech parameters) and EUROVISION contacts.
