The 66th Venice Film Festival takes place at the Venice Lido and runs from 2 to 12 September 2009.

Award-winning director Ang Lee will chair the International Jury. Opening the festival will be the film "Baaria," written and directed by Oscar-winner Giuseppe Tornatore.

The Venice Film Festival will honour John Lasseter and the directors of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios with a career award at this year's festival.

Also known as the Mostra in Italian, this film festival is one of the oldest and most prestigious events in Europe.
