Special Event Coverage at the Olympics
More
Eurovision offered broadcasters a full range of production and transmission services during the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turin, Italy, from dedicated paths to occasional services to live programme inserts to on-site studio production.
In addition to the Eurovision Sports Operations Group production and broadcast services to rights holders through its set-up at the International Broadcast Center (IBC), Eurovision Operations offered comprehensive transmission and production services for both rights holders and non-rights holders outside of the IBC.

A Eurovision News and Network production center was established in central Turin, overlooking the icon of the city as a background for live program inserts. The stand-up positions offered views of the famous Mole Antonelliana Tower and Turin skyline. The feedpoint handled tape feeds in Beta IMX/SP/SX and DVCPRO formats, in PAL and NTSC, and was permanently linked to the global Eurovision network.

The EBU remains the Olympic torch bearer for European broadcasting and is proud to be the European rights holder for the Torino 2006, Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2010 and 2012 Olympics. Eurovision teams are already plannning for these future Games, to ensure that broadcasters will continue to receive high quality production and transmission services, including the latest in multimedia support.

We welcome your requests for additional information about these services.
