Through its worldwide satellite network,
Eurovision offers broadcasters access to live signals from
breaking news locations and other major news events. Following are the definitions used to describe long format news and sports items. NE = News Event NE can contain live or recorded news material Free of charge and accessible only for Eurovision members No need to state participation Sublicense holders with the right to access NE need to state participation to evn@eurovision.net, besides clearing copyright when required. Charges for network costs are as per agreement SNE = Sport News Event SNE can contain live or recorded sports-news material Free of charge for EBU/Eurovision members Non-members may be allowed to access the material on a case-by-case basis, if authorised by the copyright holder. Non-members are charged for network costs SNE inherits all the financial handling rules from CLA NEC = News Event Chargeable NEC can contain live or recorded news material With charge for Eurovision members - conditions shown for each item Non-members may be allowed to access the material on a case-by-case basis, if authorised by the copyright holder. Non-members are charged for network costs All services wishing to receive NEC, need to state participation to evn@eurovision.net SNEC = Sport News Event Chargeable SNEC can contain live or recorded sports-news material With a charge for EBU/Eurovision members - conditions shown for each item Non-members may be allowed to access the material on a case-by-case basis, if authorised by the copyright holder. Non-members are charged for network costs SNEC inherits all the financial handling rules from CLP Additionally, the following item types are also used but are not part of the Eurovision News Exchange: WF = Eurovision World Feed WF may be a short or long-form item, recorded material (e.g. a VNR) or live coverage (e.g. Prince Rainier funeral) WF is sponsored by the source - free for all members and non-members WF may be distributed regionally or globally over the Eurovision Network WFC = Eurovision World Feed Chargeable WFC may be a short or long-form item, recorded material or live WFC material may be free for members and chargeable for non-members or chargeable for all (conditions shown on each item) WFC may be distributed regionally or globally over the Eurovision Network The item types take into account the differentiation of items by content (news and sport-news), financial treatment (free for EBU/Eurovision members or with costs) and target audience (EBU/Eurovision members or all broadcasters, including non-members) in the case of the Eurovision World Feeds.
