The News Exchanges are a core Eurovision activity managed on behalf of Eurovision's Member broadcasters, primarily the public broadcasters of Europe.
Using the Eurovision network and coordination services, Members exchange over 100 news and sports news items per day, making the News Exchanges
an important complement to Members' own news productions.
The News Exchanges use two channels on the Eurovision network. The Permanent News Network channel is dedicated to the multi-origin,
multi-destination exchange of individual news and sports news items, while the Permanent Events Network channel delivers continuous
coverage of live events.
Our experience:
Coverage of worldwide news from over 100 broadcast sources
News Flashes for breaking news coverage
Sports News coverage
Regional News Exchanges for the Scandinavian countries, Central Europe, the Balkans and the Mediterranean
Theme-based coverage, including youth, economics, EU news and other subjects for magazine and longer-format needs
Extension of News Exchanges content to sub-licensees
Eurovision’s IP-based Xtranet and File Transfer services allow the content of the News Exchanges to be sent
over satellite to dedicated Eurovision SuperPOP servers located on Members’ premises. The SuperPOP
generates standard-format digital files (MXF, GXF and others) from the satellite video stream, allowing Members
to integrate broadcast quality video files into digital production or newsroom systems, while low-resolution versions
can be viewed from any web browser.
There are five different categories of News Exchanges:
