Connect Africa Summit
More
The International Telecommunication Union provided, free of charge, Eurovision World Feeds with daily summaries of the 29-30 October 2007 Connect Africa Summit in Kigali, Rwanda.

The overall objective of the Connect Africa Summit was to mobilize the human, financial and technical resources required to close Information and Communication Technology (ICT) gaps throughout Africa.

The Summit offerred a venue for leaders from the public, private and financial sectors to network face-to-face and forge new partnerships. During the Summit, participants debated the key success factors vital to advance ICT investment and boost growth in Africa, including the expansion of broadband infrastructures, new "last mile" access solutions (especially for rural connectivity), establishing a business-friendly policy and regulatory environment, developing an ICT-skilled workforce and relevant applications and services, and striking the right balance between private and public investment.

Eurovision was ITU's Host Broadcaster in Kigali. Eurovision crews supplied the necessary technical expertise and equipment to provide the full coverage and satellite distribution of the event, including contribution of video material to the Eurovision News Exchanges and the worldwide distribution to all TV stations.
