THE LEN EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR SWIMMING, DIVING AND SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMING took place in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, from March 13 through March 24, 2008.

Eurovision provided production and transmission facilities throughout the event.

Five hundred and twenty eight athletes, representing 42 federations,  participated in the events at De Tongelreep Swimming Complex.  The event's competitors came from Italy (42), Ukraine (35), Russia (32), France (31), host nation the Netherlands (30), and Great Britain and Sweden with 27 each.

Eurovision, together with its host member NOS, was responsible for producing and delivering the international signal to the European rights holders.

The European rights were covered by our long-term contract with LEN (Ligue Européenne de Natation), the governing body for European Swimming Federations.

The rights were sold to numerous European countries whose broadcasters - Eurovision members - transmitted the event throughout the region. Among those countries transmitting the event were: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Pan European via Eurosport, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland,  Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

There is a French saying "On ne change pas l'équipe qui gagne" or, roughly, You don't change a winning formula. And that is exactly how I would describe the European Swimming Championships in Eindhoven. Specifically, it was another major success for Eurovision. Another winning formula.

'With state-of-the-art technology and excellent service, we were able to cope with the increased demand in the wake of world records being broken. We had many requests for additional unilateral transmissions and the number of live interviews doubled. As usual this demand was met with both 'savoir faire' and professionalism. For me personally, it was proof that our tag line is more than just a marketing line. It speaks the truth - Eurovision. Right There.

'For many athletes, the Eindhoven swimming preview is a look at what to expect at the Olympics. And for Eurovision's clients, this event is a look at the quality and professionalism they can expect from Eurovision at the Olympics.'

'Another success. That's how I would describe the European Swimming Championships here in Eindhoven. Multilateral coverage, coupled with an abundance of unilateral feeds were the order of the day. As the medal tallies grew for individual countries and world records were broken, so the demand for unilateral feeds grew. As usual this demand was met with both expertise and professionalism, making this another great event for Eurovision Sport'.
